The first of two opportunities this spring to see the Sam Houston men’s and women’s track and field team in action comes this weekend.

Sam Houston will host a combined events competition and a quadrangular meet with Lamar, Houston Baptist and Texas Southern at the Meredith York Field Events Center and Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.

The combined events meet will consist of a men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon on Thursday and Friday.

Both days competition for the men will start at 10 a.m. and for the women at 10:30.

Thursday the men will compete in the 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 meters.

Friday the men finish with the 110 meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 200 meters.

The women will compete in the 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters on Thursday and the long jump, javelin and 800 meters on Friday.
