Leicester City Proved Their Doubters Wrong
By Cheval John
Nobody believed that Leicester City was going to win the English Premier League (EPL) title when the season began.
They had every reason to believe it because the club, who are nicknamed “the foxes” barely survived regulation by finishing 14th in the EPL.
Leceister City had a 5,000 to 1 chance to win the championship and those who made a wager on the team were probably believed to be foolish.
The clubs who normally win the EPL are the top teams who have the budget to sign the elite players to help them achieve the championship.
Leicester City achieved the impossible and won the EPL title after Tottenham finished their matchup in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea F.C.
This historic win has garnered international media and social media attention.

Even if you are not a soccer fan, you have to appreciate the magnitude of this historic title run by Leicester City.
The club was founded in 1884 and have once finished second during the 1928-29 season in the English top division of football (EPL was formed in 1992).
This historic championship run also proved to be a statement for their head coach Claudio Ranieri.
Twelve years ago, Ranieri was told by the Chelsea F.C. ownership during his firing that he would never win a EPL title.
And the fact that he led Leicester City to a championship is poetic justice.
They did not complain about the “lack of resources” or the “lack of talent” that they had compared to the teams like Manchester United and Chelsea F.C.
Leicester City had the mindset to believe that they could compete in the EPL.
They were to a large degree the ultimate underdog in the EPL.
This story of Leicester City applies to us who are in business for ourselves.
We might believe that we can’t compete with the large businesses because it seems like they have all the resources to market their products or services.
Not only can we compete against the large businesses with the lack of resources, we can win too because we are creative and we understand how to build a loyal customer base through social media.
If we can share valuable content and be human in our story telling, we can win over customers and succeed for the better.
Just like Art Jones, Jed Record and Kristy Gillentine who shared with my audience on What’s The Word? about how they use snapchat to tell their stories of running their businesses.
So you don’t need money or the resources to succeed in your business or win a championship if you are a sports team.
All you need is the growth mindset to believe that you can succeed in your business and life.
When you have the unlimited belief that you can succeed in your business, you will achieve unlimited success and bring inspiration to a lot of people like Leicester City did to their fans.
Embracing The Madness

The Final Four is set to begin in less than 4 hours at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Many can say that this event featuring North Carolina, Villanova, Syracuse and Oklahoma will be one of the most anticipated in NCAA Basketball.
The Final Four is considered one of the most excited events in American sports because of format of the NCAA basketball tournament.
You win and you move on.
You lose and you go home.
One must also come to understand is that Houston is very fortunate to be hosting the Final Four this year because it is a test run before they host the NFL’s biggest event of the year, “The SuperBowl.”
Half of downtown Houston is extremely busy because the NCAA’s Fan Fest is happening at Discovery Green Park and the George R Brown Convention Center.
And the city of Houston is getting a major economic boost from the Final Four.
According to a report from KFOR-TV in Oklahoma, about 70,000 to 100,000 fans are attending the Final Four event in Houston
That same report indicates that Houston will make about 150 million dollars from the Final Four.
It also helps that major media like ESPN, TBS, CBS and TNT are broadcasting the event and indirectly promoting the city of Houston.
And fans are sharing with their followers their experience while attending all of the festivities surrounding the Final Four.

And of course living in the Houston area, I have the opportunity to see first hand of all of the events surrounding the Final Four.
Which leads to this message.
Take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you to make your life better.
Since we have all of these social media platforms like SnapChat, Periscope and Blab, you can build trust with your audience that can lead to your eventual success as a business owner or an employee for the better.
I am following my own advice above by showcasing everything that is happening at the Final Four.

Now the only question is “Who Is Going To Win The National Championship?”
I have North Carolina winning the championship in Houston.
Who do you believe going to win the national championship?
Samantha Kelly’s Gift Keeps On Giving
By Cheval John
Samantha Kelly has come a long way to be where she is at today.
Ms. Kelly, also known as “Tweeting Goddess” built her first business to profitability because she connected other Irish entrepreneurs through the #IrishBizParty twitter chat.
That twitter chat led other business owners for meetup gatherings and also led to the Dublin, Ireland native to launch her Tweeting Goddess business.
Ms. Kelly success did not come by accident.
She understood from the first day that if you were going to be successful in business, you have to help other people to achieve success.
And because of her giving mentality and her willingness to help other business owners to be successful, she has achieved great success herself in her business.
In addition, her native Ireland is now going to be even more better because they are catching up in social media.
The reason is because of the first ever Social Media Summit Ireland that began earlier today at Aviva Stadium, home of the rugby and soccer national teams in Dublin.
The conference came to being due to the vision of yours truly, Ms. Kelly.
She saw how behind Irish businesses were in social media compared to businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom.
And the fact that she saw how much it would cost her to attend social media conferences to learn from the leading experts in the social media industry gave her the idea of bringing these same experts to teach the business owners how to build their audience on social media.
The speakers themselves are truly happy to be there to share their social media expertise because they felt welcomed.
Some of these tweets below showcases the success from the social media summit ireland

So if a business is going to be successful for the better by lifting each other up, why are they still tearing each other down?
What they don’t realize is that they are contaminating the market with their selfishness and are ruining opportunity for anyone to make a living for the better.
They still subscribe to the fact that if they undercut their competition and put people down, then their business will be successful.
Thank goodness Ms. Kelly don’t subscribe to the dogma of putting people down in order to be successful with her business.
Because of her willingness to help her “competition” to be successful with their business, the entire business community and sports organizations in Ireland will now be a step further to being proficient with social media as their counterparts in the U.S. and U.K.

Everyone “Benefits” From Oil And Gas
By Cheval John
February 23rd, 2016
Houston has it advantages and disadvantages of being the energy capital of the world.
One of the advantages is being the location of 26 Fortune 500 companies behind New York City.
The other advantage is being the host of the 35th annual IHS CERA Week at the Hilton-Americas Houston hotel in downtown Houston.
The conference brings together executives, policymakers and government officials from around the world to discuss about the future of energy and the inconsistencies of the oil and gas industry.
One could say that this conference was timely because of the drop in price for oil in recent months.
Some quotes from the conference on Twitter includes:
Al-Qahtani: @Saudi_Aramco has Increased R&D funding by 60% in last 3 years #CERAWeek #IHSCERAWeek

For the ordinary consumer, this would be seem to be like great news because of the low cost of gasoline in most of the USA.
They would believe that they deserve a huge break after the years of paying high prices for gasoline.
What they fail to understand is that the recession in the oil and gas industry have an indirect effect on other industries as well.
Case in point, Houston.
The Bayou City had grown over the years due to the oil and gas industry.
Marcellius Foster, a former resident of Huntsville, Texas, became wealthy due to his investment in the discovery of oil at Spindletop and founded the Houston Chronicle in 1901.
And when the recession hit most of the country, Houston was able to offset the recession because the oil and gas was able to boost up their local economy.
And over those years, those who become millionaires due to the oil and gas industry gave the city of Houston their own respective sports teams like the Houston Astros (1962), the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans,) the Houston Rockets (1971) and the Houston Texans (2002).
But when the oil bust happened in the late 80s, Houston felt the worst of that failure because the majority of their economy was in the oil and gas.
‘
And though Houston has diversified their economy since the oil bust, businesses will still experience the sting of the oil and gas industry indirectly.
An example would be the restaurants and coffee shops.
And when most of the employees gets laid off from most of the Fortune 500 companies due to the current recession in the oil and gas, it affects them because they cater to these same employees.
So in the long run, everyone is affected by the oil and gas industry.
And if they want to avoid the affects of the oil and gas industry, they will have to build a strong online presence by sharing valuable content through their blogs, podcasts, video etc. about their expertise in the oil and gas industry.
They will also have to be as transparent as possible and participate in group chats on social media platforms.
Because when they have a strong network that they built while they were working in the oil and gas industry and have a loyal audience through social media, they will have a 80% chance of gaining work whether as an employee or an entrepreneur when the layoffs happened to them.
Everyone Are Influencers
By Cheval John
One of the first advice many will hear if they are starting out their podcast would be to get a major influencer on the show.
Like this article, “How To Get Successful People To Answer Your E-mails” featured in Brazen Life and syndicated by Aol.com, showcases the step-by-step advice on how the author got a major New York Times best-selling author to answer his e-mail.
The above advice would apply to ambitious entrepreneurs who are starting out their business for the first time.
Another part of the advice is that they would have the opportunity to showcase their expertise to your audience.
The advice of reaching out to influencers would be good if you were the only one trying to get their attention.
The problem is that many newbie entrepreneurs and/or podcasters are doing the exact same thing in trying to get the attention of major influencers.
In the same way of how half of professional athletes are using steroids to be successful in their respective sports, the ones who are taking the above advice are looking for shortcuts to achieve success in their business.
In the case of podcasters, you will not achieve immediate success if you have major influencers in the initial stages of your show unless you are the first to host a seven day a week show like John Lee Dumas in your specific podcast niche.
Instead of going after the major influencers in your specific industries, do this one thing instead:
BE A GIVER
Find a way to help someone else succeed in their business if you want to succeed in life.
The person who is just starting out in their business in the same manner as you, are looking for strategies to grow their business.
If you have a podcast and are on the same level as that person who has a business, you can give the much needed boost for them to take their business to the next level and in the process build a strong and lasting friendship.
Kami Huyse of Zoetica Media, told me a story of how a late Houston area business person and community leader would ask everyone he got in contact with this question, “How Can I Help You?”
His giver’s mentality made the area a thriving community and probably led to the Southland Conference Basketball Tournament being held at the Merrell Center indirectly.
And I can say that Mrs. Huyse is a giver too because she built one of the most popular networking events with the Social Media Breakfast Houston that meets once a month and brings some of the most popular social media influencers in the city of Houston.
Now you can ignore the advice and continue to go about chasing the major influencers.
If you do keep on chasing the “major influencers”, you will come across as a person who is looking to only use them to build your business.
I can guarantee that the “major influencers” will know if you are one of the energy vampires that are taking from them because they can sense a fake from a thousand miles.
You must understand that these “major influencers” were once in your shoes and they had to work extremely hard for years in order to be successful in their business and build a strong and loyal following.
If they can build a successful business and a loyal audience, so can you because at the end of the day, everyone are influencers.
