Disclosure: I am an Amazon Affiliate and I receive a commission based on a recommendation. I do not recommend any book if I have not read it first.

I had written earlier this year about starting the new year off right by blogging everyday this month due to a challenge that Natalie Sisson “issued.”

Well, just to let you know, I was way ahead of the challenge as Ms. Sisson actually issued the 15-day blogging challenge starting tomorrow.

When I saw that, I realized that I jumped the gun and was considering waiting until the 15th to actually blog everyday.

However, I decided to keep my promise to you, the reader and continue to blog everyday until the actual challenge begin.

I hope that you will decide to join me on Ms. Sisson’s challenge because it will challenge you to be very creative and also, meet others who have taken on the challenge as well.

And to honor Ms. Sisson, since Wednesdays will be book recommendation day, I will highly recommend Ms. Sisson’s book, “The Suitcase Entrepreneur,” which is still available on Amazon.

The book is really amazing because it gives vivid details on how Ms. Sisson was able to run an online business while traveling the world.

Even though the book is not a first of it’s kind thanks to Tim Ferris’ book, “The Four Hour Workweek,” Ms. Sisson was able to get her book as an Amazon bestseller as a self-published author.

To me, that is amazing and Ms. Sisson is just getting started.

Her goal is to help over 100,000 entrepreneurs be location independent by 2020.

I honestly believe that she is halfway towards her goal.

So if you want to participate in the 15-day blog challenge, you can sign up here.

Have you read “The Suitcase Entrepreneur” and if so, how has the book changed your life? You can leave your comments below.

3 Reasons To Avoid Multi-Level Companies

By Cheval John

The “Great Recession” of 2008 put a dent in the U.S. economy that took a while to recover.

Many were laid off from their positions at places where they believed they would work at until retirement.

After the initial shock, they went into job hunting mode, looking for that same position at a different company, hoping to feed their families and reclaim the American dream.

Thankfully, people are now starting to find jobs whether in their fields or in a place unrelated to their expertise.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate has dropped to 5.6 % in December of last year.

Prior to the month, unemployment was at 5.8 %.

Though that is good news, many others are still trying to find the job of their dreams.

Unfortunately, the desperation of these folks allows many multi-level companies to prey on them because they see an opportunity to take advantage to profit for themselves.

You might wonder what is multi-level marketing?

According to Investopedia, multi-level marketing is a strategy that some direct sales companies use to encourage their existing distributors to recruit new distributors by paying the existing distributors a percentage of their recruits sales.

So for a person who is new to a multi-level company, the only way for them to make money is to meet a sales quota so that they can gain a commission.

They will have to pay for a fee to receive some products or training first before they go out and gain new customers for their products.

People who continue to engage with multi-level companies runs the risk of losing everything because they were at the bottom of the pyramid in the multi-level marketing company.

That is why they will go out and make as many sales as possible so that they will not be caught in that predicament.

An example that will hopefully make you think twice of joining a multi-level company is the Bernie Madoff scandal.

Mr. Madoff ran a pyramid scheme for decades and many people invested in his company hoping to make a return on their investment.

However, his scheme fell apart thanks to the “Great Recession” and as a result, people lost their investment.

In turn, Mr. Madoff was prosecuted for his crimes and is now spending the rest of his life in jail.

If you’re still not convinced, here are three more reasons why you should avoid multi-level companies:

1. You Will Be Deceiving Your Customers

These companies will normally tell their workers not to reveal who they are working for because they understand that people have their suspicions of multi-level companies.

They will try and teach you to be very deceptive when they are selling one of their products or try to recruit them into a scam.

Once you get your prospective client on board with the multi-level company and they end up failing, you will be responsible for their failures.

2. It Ruins The Lives of Families.

People will put their life savings into a multi-level marketing company hoping to make money.

What they end up doing is sacrifice time with their families working everyday trying to gain new prospective clients.

When they finally go broke after dipping into their money for products, they will end up on the street because they failed to make a sale.

As a result, their families suffer.

3. You Will Ruin Your Reputation

When you try to make a sale for a multi-level company by using deception, people will realize that you are not trustworthy and will not want to be associated with you.

They will see you as a thief and will warn their friends about you.

Even if you end up leaving the multi-level marketing company and work for a reputable company, it will be very hard for you to build trust again with your friends and their network because of your deceptive practices when you were associated with a multi-level company.

So if you are struggling to find a job, do whatever you can to avoid multi-level companies because you will avoid all the stress and pressure that is associated with a multi-level company.

Ohio State Overcomes Adversity, Wins National Championship

By Cheval John

The Ohio State Buckeyes proved the doubters wrong and won the national championship after defeating the Oregon Ducks 42-20 in Arlington, Texas.

The Buckeyes won the title under the new era of the so-called, “College Football Playoff” era.

What is really amazing about this team is the fact that they were counted out before the season begin when Braxton Miller went down with an injury.

However, backup quarterback J.T. Barrett led Ohio State to an 11-1 record before going down with an season-ending injury.

That was when the doubters came in force and wondered “loudly” if the Buckeyes would be able to win the Big Ten championship with third string quarterback, Cardale Jones.

They answered the question and dominated Wisconsin 59-0 to win the conference championship and were selected for the first annual “playoff.

The questions now were “can Mr. Jones lead Ohio State to a semifinal win against Alabama, the vaunted power of the Southeastern Conference (SEC)?

They answered the questions again and defeated the Crimson Tide 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl to advance to the title game.

From there, the Buckeyes were able to overcome four turnovers to defeat Oregon despite being underdogs again.

The lesson we can learn from this team is that you always have to believe in yourself and keep on working towards your goals.

Ohio State believed in each other and Jones kept himself ready whenever his opportunity came and is now going to be remembered for producing for his team and going 3-0 in his three starts in the postseason.

The only thing now is that Urban Meyer, now the second head coach to win national championships with two schools (Florida 2006, 2008), and his coaching staff will have a tough time deciding who will be the starting quarterback for the 2015 season.

That is a problem I suspect he is very happy to have.

When A Catch Isn’t A Catch

By Cheval John

The Dallas Cowboys was trailing the Green Bay Packers 26-21 with about five minutes left when they decided to go for it on 4th and 2.

The Cowboys were in Green Bay’s end of the field and could have decided to kick a field goal, especially with their kicker Dan Bailey being a clutch player.

Tony Romo, who had a remarkable season especially going 4-0 in December, made a pass to Dez Bryant, who leaped into the air and seemed to had catch the football for a first down completion near the goal line.

However, the officials took a look at the play on replay and then overturned the call, which led to a turnover on downs.

The Packers were able to maintain possession of the football especially when Aaron Rodgers completed a pass to Randall Cobb after the football was deflected for a crucial first down that allowed them to run out the time to secure the win and move on to face the Seattle Seahawks in the AFC Championship Game.

Maybe it was the old saying, “What goes around, comes around,” because the Cowboys had a huge break in their win against the Detroit Lions.

Too bad that break did not help them to possibly win this matchup against Green Bay.

Do you think that the officials made the correct call on Dez Bryant’s appearant catch? You can leave your comments below.

Make It Four Championships For North Dakota State

By Cheval John

North Dakota State and Illinois State did not face each other during the regular season.

The Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championship game in Frisco, Texas was a perfect place for the Missouri Valley Football Conference rivals.

The game lived up to the hype as the last two minutes was filled with drama.

In the end, North Dakota State escaped with a 29-27 victory to claim their fourth consecutive FCS national championship.

It seemed as if the Bison was going to dominate this contest as they extended their lead to 20-7 with 7:33 left in the third quarter.

The Red Birds had other ideas as they outscored the Bison 13-3 to cut the lead to 24-21 with 2:22 remaining in the matchup.

That was when the excitement began after Tre Roberson, who went 11 of 23 for 157 yards, broke free for a 58 yard touchdown run to make it 27-23 with 1:30 left.

The touchdown capped a 5 play, 80 yard drive in 44 seconds.

It was a matter of if the Red Birds could hold on to win their first football championship as the Bison had enough time to retake the lead.

North Dakota State’s quarterback, Carson Wentz started the final drive with two pass completions to R.J. Urzendowski for 32 yards and 13 yards.

After two incompletions, Wentz connected another pass with Urzendowski for 33 yards that brought them to the Red Birds’ 5 yard line.

On the next play, Wentz, who finished with 237 passing yards and a score, ran the football into the endzone for a go-ahead touchdown that made it 29-27 with 33 seconds left.

With the point extra blocked, Illinois State sensed an opportunity to win the game.

Roberson started the drive with a 14 yard pass completion for a first down.

After a penalty pushed them back for 5 yards, Roberson rushed for 9 yards with 13 seconds left in the game.

Then Roberson threw an interception to Esley Thornton to allow the Bison to seal their fourth championship.

“Right when that clock hit zero, I had so many emotions I couldn’t say anything,” Wentz said to ESPN.com. “I didn’t know whether to cry or to be happy. It was just unbelievable.”

Though the Bison is the first team in FCS history to win four consecutive national championships, they became the second team to pull off the feat at all levels.

The first team to win four consecutive national championships were Augustana, who won four consecutive national championships at the Division III level from 1983-86.
