Beadle Earns SLC’s Player of the Week”

Sam Houston State junior post player Angela Beadle has been named Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Beadle helped lead the Bearkats to wins over Rice and Missouri-Kansas City last week.

The junior from Austin, Texas (Crocket H.S.), scored a career-high 30 points to go along with 16 rebounds in Sam Houston’s 79-74 overtime win at Rice.

Beadle scored in double figures in all three contests to extend her double-figure scoring streak to eight consecutive games.

Against UAB, the Bearkat post player notched her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

On the week, Beadle averaged 21.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Through the third week of the 2013-14 basketball season, Beadle stands as the Southland’s leading rebounder with 10.6 boards per game.

She ranks as the league’s fifth-leading scorer with 17.0 points per game.

Next action for the Sam Houston State women is a home bout with Wichita State Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
